Paltrow and Chalamet Serve Up Steamy On-Screen Romance in "Marty Supreme"

Get ready for sparks to fly, both on and off the ping pong table! Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet are turning up the heat in their upcoming film "Marty Supreme," a fictionalized take on the life of table tennis legend Marty Reisman.

Paltrow, in a candid Vanity Fair interview, revealed the film features a sizzling romance, stating, “I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie. There’s a lot — a lot.” She further emphasized the intensity of their on-screen connection, responding with a simple "Beyond" when questioned about sharing vulnerable scenes with Chalamet.

Chalamet: More Than Just a Heartthrob

Paltrow praised her co-star, describing the "A Complete Unknown" actor and current beau of Kylie Jenner as a “thinking man’s sex symbol," a "polite, properly raised man" and a "fun partner" who takes his work seriously. In the film, Chalamet portrays Marty Mauser, while Paltrow plays his love interest, navigating a complex relationship within the backdrop of the "ping-pong mafia."

Paltrow described her character as a woman who's "had a pretty tough life," and whose connection with Mauser is "transactional for them both," yet he manages to "breathe life back into her."

On-Set Kisses and Intimacy Coordinators

The pair's on-set chemistry was first glimpsed in October 2024 when photos of them kissing in New York went viral, setting Paltrow's "mom group texts... on fire," as she later recounted on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." Paltrow also revealed her husband, Brad Falchuk, felt "unthreatened" by the on-screen romance, confident in their strong relationship.

Interestingly, Paltrow admitted to declining the services of an intimacy coordinator on set, a relatively new role in the film industry. Coming from an era where on-screen intimacy was approached differently, she felt such guidance would stifle her as an artist. “I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on.’"
